Hey Curious Mind, 👋

Welcome to the very first Tikka Tikka Things blog post! This first post has been a long time coming, and it feels fitting to start with a simple hello, so… hello world!

Are you a new parent feeling a bit overwhelmed by the chaos of everyday life? Or maybe you’re on the lookout for ways to bring more joy and mindfulness into your family’s routine? Or perhaps you’re simply a curious mind, eager to explore new perspectives and find meaning in the little things. Whatever brought you here, welcome to Tikka Tikka—a space where we believe that the smallest shifts in perspective can create the biggest changes. We’re here to support you on your parenting journey with simple tools that inspire presence, joy, and deep connection with your little ones. 🌿

The idea for Tikka Tikka began long before my son, Louis, was born. But it was his arrival, nearly three years ago now, that truly ignited my desire to share these ideas with you. Becoming a parent was a beautiful, life-changing experience, but it also brought unforeseeable challenges. As I navigated the demands of a newborn and the constant pull between caring for my child and finding time for myself, I often found solace in the stories and books I shared with Louis. It was in those (sometimes) quiet, connected moments that I realised how powerful small, intentional actions could be.

The phrase “Tikka Tikka,” which means “little by little” in Maltese, became a mantra for me during this time. It reminded me to slow down, take things one step at a time, and find joy in the small, everyday moments. But, of course, the transition to motherhood wasn’t without its difficulties. I faced sleep deprivation, loneliness, irritability, and the pressure to keep up with my career while striving to be the “perfect” parent. Through these struggles, I discovered the comforting power of storytelling—not just for my son, but for myself too.

And that’s how Tikka Tikka was born. It’s a space dedicated to helping busy parents like you embrace those little moments that make life so meaningful. 💛

As a thank you for being part of our community, I’m beyond excited to introduce our very first book, “Tikka Tikka ABĊ: A Maltese Alphabet Book.” This project has been a true labour of love, created to introduce your little ones—or anyone with a curious mind—to the beauty of the Maltese language. With vibrant, handmade illustrations, this book brings the Maltese alphabet to life in a way that’s fun and engaging for all ages.

Before I go, I’d love to share a podcast that’s been keeping me grounded lately: Nothing Much Happens by Kathryn Nicolai. I’ve started listening to it at the end of Louis’s bedtime routine, and it’s been such a calming presence—especially on those nights when it feels like he’s taking forever to fall asleep. 🫠

The soothing stories have helped me stay patient and present, and maybe they’ll resonate with you too. You can check it out on Spotify (or wherever you get your podcasts), or visit their website to learn more.

As you navigate the ups and downs of life + parenthood, remember to take things “tikka tikka”—little by little. Life is made up of small moments, and it’s in those moments that true joy and connection are found. 💫

Thanks once again for being part of the Tikka Tikka journey. We’re excited to grow with you.

With love,

Alexine 💙
